The intersection between femininity and ceramics

Hannah Stanton creates immersive, ceramic-based installations and sculptures that engage the senses and disrupt the sterile boundaries of the traditional gallery. Stanton explores the material of clay and aims to recontextualise its association with craft, β€œlow art" and β€œdecorative art”, with a focus on its intrinsic connection to domesticity and femininity.

I acknowledge the Butchulla and Kabi Kabi peoples, the traditional custodians of the land on which I work. I recognise the everlasting care for country and spiritual, social and artistic significance of the Butchulla and Kabi Kabi cultures. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
